Air Travel with the Sprint 2

The Sprint 2 is built to be portable, and the battery is approved for aviation travel in most countries. Because lithium-ion batteries are subject to aviation safety regulations, it is important to pack the machine correctly before flying.

Following the guidance below helps you stay compliant and avoid delays at security.

What Goes Where

ItemChecked baggageCarry-on
Sprint 2 unit (battery removed)AllowedAllowed, check weight/size limits
Sprint 2 battery packNot permittedRequired
Charger and cablesAllowedAllowed

Lithium batteries must travel in the cabin. Airlines and aviation authorities such as IATA, FAA, and EASA do not allow spare lithium-ion batteries in checked baggage. Always pack the Sprint 2 battery in your carry-on.

Although the Sprint 2 unit without the battery may be allowed in carry-on baggage from a regulatory perspective, in practice it will usually be too heavy for airline cabin baggage limits. In most cases, the unit should travel in checked baggage and the battery should travel in your carry-on.

Before You Travel

1. Power off the Sprint 2

Make sure the unit is fully powered off before packing it.

2. Remove the battery

The battery must be removed from the Sprint 2 before air travel.

Follow the separate battery removal guide for step-by-step instructions: How to remove the battery on Sprint 2

3. Pack the battery in your carry-on

  • Carry the battery in your hand luggage only.
  • Do not pack the battery inside the Sprint 2 carry case.
  • Wrap the battery in the included sleeve or in a padded pouch.
  • Protect the battery terminals to prevent short-circuits during travel.

A battery air travel approval document was included with the machine when it was first delivered. Keep this document with you when you travel, in case airport security asks to see it.

4. Pack the Sprint 2 carry case

The Sprint 2 carry case is designed to hold the unit without the battery installed.

Before closing the case:

  • Confirm the battery has been removed.
  • Secure all cables and accessories in the case pockets so they do not move during transport.
  • Make sure the carry-case handle and latches are fully closed before checking it in.

5. Remove the telescopic handle from the travel case

  • Take the telescopic handle out of the travel case.
  • Pack it in separate checked luggage.

This helps reduce the weight of the travel case. The telescopic handle should not be carried in hand luggage, since it could be considered a weapon.

At The Airport

  • Place the battery in your carry-on tray during security screening, together with laptops and other electronics.
  • If security staff ask about it, explain that it is a removable lithium-ion battery pack for sports training equipment.
  • Allow extra time at security, since unusual equipment may require additional screening.

Additional Travel Tips

  • Charge the battery to about 50% before flying. Partial charge is better for storage and transport.
  • Check airline-specific rules before you fly. Most airlines follow standard guidance, but some may have additional requirements.
  • Keep the battery approval document easy to access during the trip.

After You Arrive

Before starting the Sprint 2 after traveling, reinstall the battery.
