Assisted Sprinting is a training method where an external force or load helps the athlete move forward while they continue to produce active running mechanics.
Overspeed Sprinting refers to a type of assisted sprinting that forces the athlete to run at velocities beyond their current unloaded maximum sprinting capacity. Beware of mechanical control when providing overspeed stimulus.
In assisted sprinting:
The athlete is still generating force into the ground.
Assistance reduces horizontal resistance, allowing higher step frequency or velocity.
The goal is to enhance neuromuscular coordination at faster-than-normal speeds while maintaining technical control.
To provide assistance, the 1080 Sprint 1 and 2 model units are programmable between 3- 12 kg of assisted loading for top-end sprinting.
3 kg is the lightest load recommended to prevent the dragging of the line during long sprints greater than 20 meters. Rarely do athletes exceed light assistance loads of 6 kg, but the loading is very individual to the athlete being towed. 10+ kg is extremely high and should be used with great caution.
