Removing a Damaged Section of the Sprint 2 Line

This guide helps you assess line damage and safely repair the affected section of a Sprint 2 line.

Do I need to replace the whole line?

If your Sprint line is damaged, you can always replace it entirely with a new line. However, in many cases this isn’t necessary. Instead, you can simply remove the outermost damaged part of the line and continue using it. For instructions on how to replace the line entierly see How to Change the Line on Sprint 2.

Steps to Remove the Outermost Part of the Line

  1. Set the zero position further out On the Sprint home screen, swipe down the top menu and click Set Zero Position. Pull out the line longer than the section you plan to cut off.

  2. Cut the line Using sharp scissors or a suitable cutter, remove the damaged outer section of the line.

  3. Reattach the line with a Palomar knot Secure the line back to the attachment point using a Palomar knot. Make sure the knot is tight and the end of the line is neatly trimmed to avoid fraying.

For detailed instructions please see How to Attach a Line Stop to the 1080 Sprint 2

Tips

  • If the line continues to show wear or frays after cutting, it’s best to replace it entirely.
  • Always check the line and knot before every session for safety.
