Creating a new exercise
This guide summarizes how to create a new exercise type using the 1080 Control App. This summary applies to all 1080 Motion products (Sprint, Cable, Quantum)
Step 1: Open the Exercise Library
- Click the three-bar menu in the upper left-hand corner.
- Select Exercise Library from the dropdown menu.
- You'll see three sections:
- Public – Preloaded exercises from 1080 Motion.
- Private – Your custom exercises.
- Both – A mix of public and private exercises.
- Use tags to quickly sort exercises and create testing or training templates (e.g., assessments, sports-specific drills).
Step 2: Create a New Exercise
- Click the yellow "New Exercise" button in the lower left corner.
- Name the exercise (e.g., "Single Forward Jump").
- Choose an icon that matches the exercise type.
- Assign a tag (e.g., Basketball, assessment, training).
- Upload start and stop position images (optional).
Step 3: Choose the Exercise Type
Select the appropriate exercise type:
- Single – For isolated movements (e.g., a single-leg jump).
- Synchro – Uses two quantum cable machines together.
- Linear – For continuous motion exercises (e.g., running, swimming).
- Change of Direction – For agility-based movements.
Step 4: Add Instructions and Media
Enter exercise instructions for users. Add a YouTube or Vimeo link for a demo video.
Step 5: Adjust Exercise Settings
- Click Settings in the upper right corner.
- Set the minimum required distance (how much minimum movement counts as a rep). * Example: 15 cm for small movements like shoulder rotations. * For jumps, increase the distance to avoid false reps.
- Select rep cycle display: * Concentric first, then eccentric (or vice versa).
- Customize resistance settings: * Choose between constant load, variable load, or percentage of body weight. * Example: Test a single-leg forward jump at 5% body weight for all users.
- Set speed limits for concentric and eccentric movements.
- Click Save to store your settings.
Step 6: Use Your New Exercise
- Your exercise will now appear in the Private list.
- Filter by type (Single, Syncro, Linear, CoD.) or tag (e.g., Basketball) to find it.
- To edit an exercise, click the Edit button and make changes.
- When creating a new session, select your custom exercise to include it in training.
- Now you're ready to create and customize exercises quickly in 1080 Sprint!
