Eccentric Boost

Prev Next

Eccentric-focused resistance training, which emphasizes the lowering or lengthening phase of a movement, offers several
unique benefits for strength development and can lead to improvements in strength, muscle size, tendon health,
and injury resilience. It is a powerful tool for athletes, rehabilitation settings, and general fitness enthusiasts.

The Eccentric Boost function allows one repetition under a heavy eccentric load.
The load is intended to be greater than the user's maximum pulling strength for a specific
movement (e.g., one arm row) to achieve the desired effect of eccentric-focused resistance training.

How to use Eccentric Boost

ONLY AVAILABLE ON 1080 QUANTUM SYSTEMS

Start by setting a reasonable base load of approximately 60% of the max force of the athlete. This is to avoid
a jerk in the line when the eccentric boost is started and completed.

The eccentric boost dialog can be opened from the load menu (where you set the load) by clicking the "Eccentric Boost" button.

Pull the line to the starting position and stand still, then press the "Start" button in the dialog.

After a short countdown, the machine will start pulling the line towards the machine. The pulling will end when one of the following happens

  1. The line is pulled into the zero position
  2. The athlete manage to pull harder than the machine
  3. The "Stop" button is pressed
  4. The machine has reached the max boost time limit (10s)

Troubleshooting

If the eccentric boost does not start after the countdown reaches 0, it's usually one of

  • The line was moving when the start command was issued to the machine
  • The line is already in the zero position

If the eccentric boost stops before it reaches the zero position, it was probably because the athlete managed to pull harder than the machine
causing the machine to slip.

If the start button is disabled, it's probably because the line is moving.
