Every exercise has a Name, a set of Instructions and one or two Images to describe its purpose and use.
Type
The Type is a broad categorization of the exercise and controls how the software displays training data as well
as how data is collected.
Type | Purpose |
---|---|
Single | Exercises where a single cable is used for repetitions such as a push, pull, rotation or jump. The measurement will be displayed as bars for individual repetitions. Both the Sprint and Quantum single system can be used. |
Synchro | Exercises using two cables with a Quantum system in syncro mode, but where the individual movement in each cable is measures separately such as a bilateral chest fly, or bilateral pull. |
Synchro Smith | Exercises using two Quantum cables with a smith machine where the combined measurements from both machines are displayed as one. |
Linear | Measurements of linear cyclical movements such as sprinting, skating or swimming. Measurements can be done to capture a set sprint distance such as a 10 meter fly and are displayed as summary of force, velocity and power and curves of the measured distance. |
Change of Direction | Also known as CoD. Typically used for horizontal exercises such as shuttle runs, jumps. Public exercises include 5-0-5 and 5-10-5 protocol with different starting criteria. |
- Single, Synchro and Synchro Smith exercises are displayed as bar charts, grouped into reps.
- Linear and CoD exercises are displayed in a list of runs with the option to plot the curve.
Repetition Exercise Settings
Applies to exercises of type Single, Synchro, Synchro Smith.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Minimum Required Distance | This is the minimum distance the line needs to be moved before it is counted as a rep. It's main purpose is to reduce the amount of "garbage" data that gets collected. Note that once a rep is recorded (the MRD threshold is reached), data for the entire motion is recorded. No data is lost due to this setting. |
Side | Set this to Unilateral to be able to track which reps where done on which side of the body. For exercises where this is not desired, set it to Bilateral. |
Rep cycle | This affects how the software groups related motions into a single rep by specifying which motion (concentric/away from the machine or eccentric/towards the machine) is first in the rep. |
Only capture main phase | Can be set on exercises where one of the phases are not interesting and should not even be recorded. If set, then only the first phase (specified by Rep Cycle above) is stored in the database. |
Linear Exercise Settings
Applies to exercises of type Linear
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Direction | Can be set to make the machine not trigger accidental starts. The default is to automatically detect which direction the athlete is moving. |
Stop Condition | The condition that will cause the run to end. Default is 'distance' |
Sprint Distance | Used with stop condition 'Distance' and cause the New Run dialog to prefill with this value. |
Sprint Time | Used with stop condition 'Time' and cause the New Run dialog to prefill with this value. |
Track Sides | Adds a left/right selector to the New Run dialog so that runs can be tagged with a side. |
See Recording a Linear Sprinting Run for more information on how to record a linear run.
CoD Exercise Settings
Applies to exercises of type Change of Direction
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Run-up distance | Used when a flying start is desired. The machine will not start to record measurements until the athlete has moved this distance. |
Minimum number of turns | The machine will keep measuring until at least this number of turns have been made. This is primarily used to allow the athlete to cross the end |
End position offset | The default behavior for a CoD run is that the finish line is the same position. By setting this number, the end position can be moved, relative to the start position. The value is expressed as an offset, where a negative value means the end is behind the athlete's start position and a positive value means it is in front of them. |
Start direction | Can be set to make the machine not trigger accidental starts. The default is to automatically detect which direction the athlete is moving. |
Resistance Settings
Applies to all exercises
Resistance settings are used to set resistance and speed limit settings of the machine when using this exercise. They can be accessed from the various training dialogs (New Run, New Set) in group training.
If a value is not provided, the machine will just use whatever is currently set on the machine.
The resistance mode setting controls how the load can be specified:
- Constant load: this is the default mode, where concentric and eccentric loads can be set to a constant value.
- Variable load: this is a mode the load will vary depending on the speed. See Variable Load for more information.
- % Body Weight: Enter a percentage and the load will be set based on the entered weight of client doing the training.
All modes allow the speed limits to be set.
