Team Setup & Session Management — Team Sport Guide
The 1080 Motion web app (app.1080motion.com) gives organizations a structured way to manage large rosters, assign players to groups, tag positions, and execute efficient training sessions — from a single machine or across multiple machines on the pitch. This guide walks through setting up your team roster, tagging players by position, building training groups, and running a 30-meter / 3 kg resisted sprint session with your full squad.

Step 1 — Build your roster
app.1080motion.com › Clients
The fastest way to get a full squad into the system is using the bulk upload template. Download the CSV template from the Clients section, fill in player names and details, then upload the file. The entire roster is imported in one step. For individual additions during the season — a new signing or trialist — players can also be added one at a time.
1. Download the roster template — go to app.1080motion.com and navigate to Clients. Click Download Template to get the CSV file.
2. Fill in player details — enter each player's name, date of birth, height, weight, and any other required fields. Save the completed file.
3. Upload the roster — click Upload Roster, select your completed CSV, and confirm. All athletes appear in your roster immediately.
4. Add individual players — to add a single athlete mid-season, click Add Client, fill in the form, and save. They are available for session assignment straight away.
Step 2 — Organise with Groups & Tags
Assign every player to the right team and position. Use Groups to organise players by squad or program, and Tags to classify individual players by position, fitness status, or any other category.
| Group | Example | Tag type | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Team | Senior squad | Position | GK · DEF · MID · FWD |
| U21 | Under-21 squad | Fitness | Full Go · Limited · Return |
| U19 | Under-19 squad | Selection | Camp · Travel Squad |
| Women's | Women's first team | Performance | Speed Focus · Power Focus |
| Rehab | Injured / limited status |
Pro tip: Tags are applied per-athlete and persist across sessions. A player tagged MID in the U21 group stays tagged until you change it — so filtering for midfielders during any future session is instant.
Step 3 — Create training groups for a session
Training groups (A, B, C, D) divide the squad into manageable sub-groups for a single testing/training session. Each group rotates through the machine(s) in sequence, so one session plan covers the entire squad. Groups can be pre-built in the Plan tool on app.1080motion.com, or assigned live inside the Sessions program on your 1080 Control App tablet or 1080 Machine Display.
| Group A | Group B | Group C | Group D | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Position | Goalkeepers | Defenders | Midfielders | Forwards |
| Tag | GK | DEF | MID | FWD |
| Size | 2–3 athletes | 5–6 athletes | 6–8 athletes | 4–5 athletes |
| Order | Rotate 1st | Rotate 2nd | Rotate 3rd | Rotate 4th |
Training groups can be renamed and re-assigned for any session. The example above shows a typical 20-player squad split by position.
| Where | How | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| app.1080motion.com Plan tool | Build the session and groups in advance. Groups, loads, and distances are all saved before you arrive on the pitch. | Pre-planned training days, tournaments, testing camps |
| Sessions program — Control App on tablet or Machine Display program (Sprint 2 only) | Open the Sessions program and select a preprogrammed session or create a new one. Select a group to be displayed and assign athletes from the roster in real time. | Ad hoc sessions, last-minute squad changes, live adjustments |
Step 4 — Run the session (30 m · 3 kg)
Linear resisted sprint — full squad, one or multiple machines. With groups pre-assigned, executing the session on the pitch is fast and low-friction. The tablet or display will show only the athletes in the active group — not the full roster — keeping the screen clean and reducing selection errors under pressure.
1. Open Sessions on the tablet or machine display — launch the 1080 Control App (download.1080motion.com) and open the session you built on app.1080motion.com. If building live, create a new session: select Running, set distance to 30 m and load to 3 kg. Alternatively, launch Sessions from the 1080 Sprint 2 machine display and open the session you built on app.1080motion.com.
2. Select Group A — Goalkeepers — tap Group A on the session screen. Only the goalkeepers tagged GK appear in the athlete list. Select all, then start. Each rep is recorded automatically to the correct athlete profile.
3. Rotate through Groups B, C, D — when Group A finishes, tap Group B. Defenders appear. Continue through C (Midfielders) and D (Forwards). Rest periods between groups give each position time to recover while the next group prepares.
4. Monitor live data on the leaderboard — during each group's runs, the live leaderboard displays speed, 0–5 m time, and total sprint time. Coaches can see who needs an additional rep or extra recovery in real time.
5. Review post-session across all groups — after the session, open the results view on app.1080motion.com. Filter by Group or Tag to compare goalkeepers vs. forwards, or sort by any KPI across the full squad.
Key performance indicators available for every rep using Analyze on app.1080motion.com:
| 0–5 m | 30 m | Vmax |
|---|---|---|
| Early acceleration | Total sprint time | Peak velocity (m/s) |
Why this structure works: A squad of 20 players is tested or trained in four clean rotations. The 1080 Sprint operator only ever sees the active group on screen. All data flows to the correct athlete profile automatically — no manual entry, no mix-ups. Post-session, every KPI is available squad-wide for comparison in seconds.
