# Record Linear Sprinting Run

In most cases, recording a new run is as simple as opening the dialog and then start running.

The most common mode, where the start condition is *Auto* and the finish condition is a distance, the machine will automatically start and stop the run.

## Dialog Content

The dialog contains the following

1. **Start Condition**: Specify what condition should trigger a new run. In most cases, **Auto** should be used which will automatically start a new run when the client starts running.
2. **Finish Condition**: Specify what condition should end the run. Usually this is a distance but can also be .
3. **Direction**: Specify the direction (assisted or resisted). Can be left in Auto and the machine will figure it out automatically.
4. **Side**: *(only for exercises which has 'track left/right side' enabled in the exercise library)*. The selected side will be saved with the rest of the run data and can be used for analysis later.

### Start Condition

There are three options for the start condition:

1. **Auto**: In this mode, the measurements start as soon as the client starts to run.
2. **Manual**: In this mode, the measurements will start when the user presses the `Start` button.
3. **Position**: In this mode, the measurements start when the client crosses a certain position. The position is expressed in a distance (meters or yards) from where they start moving.
  - Tip: Use the *Tape Measure* to accurately place cones or other markers on the field on the correct position

### Finish Condition

There are four options for the finish condition:

1. **Distance**: In this mode, the measurements stops when the client has moved the specified distance (meters or yards).
2. **Auto**: In this mode, the measurements will stop as soon as the client stops moving.
3. **Time**: In this mode, the measurements will stop after the specified time has passed since the client started running.
4. **Manual**: In this mode, the measurements will stop when the user presses the `Stop` button.

### Side and Direction

Side is available on exercises that have been configured to track left/right side. The selected side will be saved with the rest of the run data and can be used for analysis later.

Direction can be specified to avoid accidental false starts when the client is moving into position.

## Aborting a run

Any ongoing run can be stopped at any time by pressing the `Stop` button. The run can then be saved as is, or discarded.
