# Pairing

*Pairing* is the term used to create a permanent link between a bluetooth device and a host device (in this case a PC/Tablet running Windows).

Pairing only needs to be done once per tablet/PC. Windows will remember the device.

> A single 1080 machine can be *paired* with multiple windows PCs and Tablets at the same time. It can, however, only be *connected* to one of them at a time.

The user interface to do so changes with every version of Windows but the general work flow are usually the same

## Windows 11

1. Click the Windows Start button open **Settings**
2. In the **Settings** window that appears, find **Bluetooth & Devices** (from the menu, or search for it)
3. (On some windows 11 versions): Under **Device Settings** set **Bluetooth device discovery** to **Advanced** instead of **Default**.
4. Make sure bluetooth is **On** and click **Add Device**
5. Search for and click on the name of your 1080 device in the list of Bluetooth devices

## Windows 10

1. Click the Windows Start button open **Settings**
2. Navigate to **Devices** => **Bluetooth**
3. Make sure bluetooth is **On** and then click on your 1080 machine in the list of  

nearby devices.
  - If the 1080 machine does not appear, click **Add a new Bluetooth device** to open a dialog that searches for nearby devices.
