The line stop prevents the training line from rolling completely into the machine. If the line stop is removed or needs to be reattached, you can secure it again using a Palomar knot.

This article covers the Line Stop.

What You’ll Need
- The 1080 Sprint 2 line
- The plastic line stop or velcro quick release
- Scissors or a sharp cutter
- A lighter or heat source
Step 1 — Thread the Line
Pass the free end of the line through the hole in the plastic line stop, leaving about 15–20 cm (6–8 inches) of line.
Step 2 — Tie a Palomar Knot
- Double the loose end of the line to form a loop.
- Pass the loop through the hole in the line stop.
- Tie a simple overhand knot with the doubled line, but don’t tighten it yet.
- Pull the entire line stop through the loop.
- Moisten the knot slightly, then pull both ends of the line to tighten.
Step 3 — Trim and Seal the End
- Use scissors to cut off the excess loose end of the line, leaving about 0.5–1 cm.
- Carefully burn the cut end with a lighter to melt and seal the fibers. This prevents fraying and extends the life of the line.
Step 4 — Secure and Test
Pull firmly to ensure the knot is tight and the line stop is secure. The line stop should sit flush against the knot without slipping.
✅ Tip: The Palomar knot is both strong and compact, making it ideal for securing the plastic line stop without damaging the line.
